REALLY!!! WTH!!! Where is Charlamagne with the Donkey of the Day because this is ridiculous!

LiAngelo Ball, the younger brother of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball and two of his UCLA teammates were apprehended by officials in China for allegedly shoplifting from the Louis Vuitton store in Hangzhou, China.  The arrest comes just days before Friday’s season-opening game against Georgia Tech which will be held in Shanghai.

According to ESPN the players (LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill) have been accused of stealing from the Louis Vuitton store next their hotel. It was reported that 20 police officials arrived to question both Georgia Tech & UCLA players whom were placed in a room for hours and not allowed to speak with their coaches.

Of course, LaVar Ball never dodges a confrontation. The Big Baller Brand head told ESPN “I’m going to wait until I get more intel on what’s going on. He’ll be fine. Everyone is making it a big deal. It ain’t that big a deal”IMG_1203

Well, it kinda is a big deal. China takes theft every seriously. Ball and his teammates could be facing 3-10 years in prison for shoplifting if proven guilty. The Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott believes it’s a big deal too, issuing a statement saying “We are very disappointed by any situation that detracts from the positive student-athlete educational and cultural experience that this week is about. Whether in the United States or abroad; we expect our student-athletes to uphold the highest standards.”

The Bruins have also released a statement saying

“We are aware of the situation involving UCLA student-athletes in Hangzhou, China. The University is cooperating fully with local authorities on this matter”

Georgia Tech made sure to followed up with a statement of their own clearing the air stating, “During the questioning, it was determined that Georgia Tech student-athletes were not involved in the activities being investigated. They have resumed their scheduled activities in advance of Saturday’s season opener versus UCLA in Shanghai”

We will be watching closely to see how this all plays out. Somebody needs an old school whooping. This makes no sense.
